Fitness Model Carly Thornton

Carly Thornton is a fitness model, stage prep coach, and IFBB Pro athlete from the United Kingdom. Carly won the Arnold Classic Europe in 2015 and earned her Pro Card. She is also the first female from the United Kingdom to place first in the Women's Physique category.

Carly's life before fitness, however, was not what it appears to be today. Carly was overweight in her early twenties, avoided exercise, and drank alcohol to cope with her low self-esteem.

Carly Thornton was once very insecure and struggled with her body image, despite the fact that she is now renowned as a fitness model and an inspiration for others.

Her poor eating habits took a toll on her, affecting her both physically and mentally. Prior to turning 21, I didn't enjoy any activities and, in retrospect, was actually quite unhealthy, as Carly put it. I hid my extremely low self-esteem behind my outgoing personality. I enjoyed going out with my friends, but occasionally I backed out at the last minute because I just didn't feel confident enough.

She made the decision to give up her bad habits and join a gym in order to lose weight.

But the transformation process took a while.

She had never exercised before and used to "hate" weightlifting. In fact, she initially only did cardio because she was afraid of the weights.

Let's face it, the weight room is so intimidating when you first start going to the gym, and you worry that everyone will make fun of you.

Carly began lifting weights as she grew more at ease in the gym.

She began reading about nutrition and health issues concurrently in order to broaden her understanding of a well-balanced diet.

To advance her progress, she also studied various training methods, including those involving weights.

Carly's body and personality both started to change as a result of the process. She became much more self-assured and extroverted.

Carly's gains in the gym soon marked the start of her fitness career. She underwent five years of training and completely changed. She started getting interested in fitness competitions around this time, as she stated: "After 5 or 6 years, I did my first show and won! I quickly caught the competitive bug because I enjoyed being on stage and the commitment and strict routine that go along with it.

She got in touch with magazines and agencies in an effort to secure a deal that would boost her reputation in the field.

After months of trying in vain to break into the modelling industry, Carly finally found a modelling agency that hired her.

Things only moved forward and upward from that point. Carly's reputation in the fitness industry quickly gained popularity. In fact, she went on to become the UK model with the most publications.

Carly went on to complete another of her main goals in 2015 when she received her IFBB Pro Card.

She joined the IFBB circuit after winning the Arnold Classic Europe after 8 years of hard training.

Carly began her career as a fitness model, then as a figure athlete, before becoming a Women's Physique competitor later in her career. She has continued to compete in the Women's Physique division since then.

As a result of the numerous changes she has made to her body and career over the years, Carly has expanded her knowledge of various training and dieting techniques, allowing her to master her physique.

She is a stage prep trainer and has a coaching certification.Whether it's to get a better body or to win a contest.

Taking a day off from training is one of the most difficult things for Carly. She does, however, acknowledge that this can sometimes stymie her development. She will take a day off if she believes her body requires it.

Carly also ensures that she gets at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Because of this, she is able to complete the day and her rigorous training regimen.
